C and S ltd have now finished refurbishing the X ray rooms at Kings College Hospital. This refurbishment adds to the many projects we have completed at Kings College Hospital over the years. Scroll down to see how this project progressed from start to completion.

What a transformation. This London Hospital refurbishment has certainly been finished in style. With all the equipment and specialist works now completed you can see why Kings College Hospital selected the best possible team to refit their X-ray Rooms.

Week 6 - nearly there!

As work continues at Kings College Hospital the rooms are really starting to take shape. In this week the following activities took place.

  • Brandon medical have completed all 1st fix works for the pendant and installed the steel plate and fixings as well as the support for the operating light for final fixing.
  • New steel beam installed in the floor, welded into position and grouted with 5 star grout. New sole plate welded and installed to support Siemens final X-Ray machine plate.
  • Successfully installed the final X-Ray machine plate as per detailed drawing.
  • Porter’s room suspended ceiling installed.
  • Main X-Ray room suspended ceiling horizontal Uni-Strut support beams installed, support structure re-levelled in readiness for final ceiling tiles, new batten and ceiling trim installed.
  • New Venesta sink Units delivered and installed successfully
  • New X Ray room trough unit installed
  • 1st fix of plumbing and removal of redundant pipework completed. Venesta sink units plumbed in.
  • New doors for Porters room corridor wall and porters room cupboard installed.
  • Huntley & Darkly Electrical cabinet installed ready for 1st fixing.
  • Final X Ray room floor screeding completed after successful Siemens Plate installation.
  • Walls prepared and first white mist coat painted in all rooms.
  • Trovex panelling installed in Porters room cupboard and around the working area in the main X Ray room.
  • AJ electrical installed all electrical cables into the installed chased conduit.
  • Additional Air Con works completed ready for final ceiling installation and testing, units externally installed.

Week 4 - Getting back on track after the Asbestos removal

After the removal of the Asbestos re-commencement of trade works began Monday 1st October. A tremendous effort was put in by all of the guys on site throughout the week.

  • Electrical and Medical sub contractors carried on with site installation works
  • Gas Pipe Pressure testing completed.
  • Load testing for bolt installation for the new plate completed.
  • Installation of Partition walls completed including Porters store cupboard, Corridor wall, 3 x old window detail, new lead lined door infill and X-ray room insert. Partitions
  • Works carried out for installation of air con system and intake/extraction
  • Installation of the Pendant Plate completed with Steel Support beams installed as per Structural Specification.
  • 3” Support beam for the Sole plate installed in the floor in preparation for Grade 5 Grout and sole plate installation.

Week 1 - getting started

During this week the following works were completed.

  • All Strip out work
  • Steel Girder Beams have been identified for supporting the new pendant and designed.
  • Air Conditioning units have been installed in new location to accommodate the new pendant location.
  • All chasing out for Mechanical & Electrical services
  • The door has been knocked through between the two rooms
  • The Hoarding has been erected in the communal corridor.
  • Asbestos was identified so it's removal has started and the rooms have been sealed.
